The invention provides a preparation method for a timber with surface wettability switch responding to an environment, relating to a preparation method for a material with surface wettability switch and solving the problems that hydrophilic-lyophobic reversible switch of the timber surface wettability can not be realized and the timber can not respond to the change of an outer environment condition. The method comprises the following steps: preparing a mixed solution and adjusting the pH (Potential of Hydrogen); placing a timber in the mixed solution to react; and washing and drying to obtain the timber with different wettability properties on the surface. The surface wettability of the prepared timber has response to the pH value of the solution and can effectively realize the hydrophilic-lyophobic reversible switch to form an intelligent switch, so that the timber can respond to the change of the outer environment condition and has the self-cleaning function.
