Nuclear levels as analyzers of high energy interactions

Abstract We observed the excitation of the first level of carbon in association with scattering of pions from 0.4 to 3 GeV/ c , and the angular correlation of the 4.4 MeV photon. The possibility of selecting diffractive productions with the method is discussed.
