Earthquake resistant construction of earthen housing

As usually constructed, they are weak and most vulnerable to complete collapse as observed during earthquakes in the past. An attempt has been made here to identify the main defects and structural weaknesses in such construction. Then suggestion are given to improve their behaviour under normal conditions and to increase their resistance to earthquakes (AU)
