A simple, practical technic of lymphography.

The technic of performing lymphography currently employed and taught in the Residency Program at the Minneapolis Veterans Hospital is described herein. We believe that its simplicity and lack of requirement of special equipment enable a radiologist to undertake lymphography even with no previous experience. It is principally based on the pioneering work of Kinmonth (18–20). Small details are emphasized which we have found make the difference between success and failure in performing lymphography. Two main difficulties are encountered by the newcomer in lymphography. One is the problem of finding a lymphatic trunk large enough for cannulation. In the majority of cases, however, the real problem here is the inability to distend the vessel properly. Many of the lymph vessels appear hopelessly small at first in comparison with the size of the lymphography needle. Also, many of the lymphatic vessels cannot be easily recognized as they are still void of indicator dye. This can be corrected by milking forward th...
