Model of a shrimp population (Philocheras trispinosus) II. Simulation of the energy fluxes
1991
Abstract Using a model of the kinetics of the size structure of a shrimp population ( Philocheras trispinosus ), this work attempts to simulate the energy fluxes. It incorporates functions which take into account respiration, excretion, reproduction and energy loss by moulting. It calculates the biomasses and productions. The model describes these fluxes throughout the annual cycle for different values of the mortality coefficient. The simulations show how the evolution of the energy fluxes reflect the evolution of the demographic structure. For the simulated population, the mean of the K 2 coefficient varies between 32 and 37% while the mean of the production/biomass ratio is between 7.19 and 9.01.
