Calculation of flow coefficient and effective action area coefficient of compressor's reed valve based on fluid-solid coupling

2016
Reed valve is widely used in compressors. It is one of the most important compressor components. Its performance affects the compressor's efficiency. The creation of a mathematical model considering both the thermodynamic process and valve movement of the compressor involves two important coefficients: flow coefficient and effective action area coefficient. So far, no mathematical method has yet been available for calculating them accurately. They are determined largely using empirical formulas. In the study presented by the paper, a flow field model of the reed valve was created on the basis of CFD after an analysis of the flow behavior around the valve, the velocity field, pressure field, and path lines around the valve in the transient flow regime were simulated in the FLUENT software, and the calculation data of the valve's unit flow rates and surface forces under different openings and differential pressures were employed to analyze the factors affecting the reed valve's flow coefficient and effective action area coefficient, thus providing reference or guidance for reed valve design, optimization, and efficient improvement.
