Older Americans Act Nutrition Programs Evaluation: Meal Cost Analysis

The Elderly Nutrition Services Program Process Evaluation meal cost analysis examined the average cost of congregate and home-delivered meals provided under the Nutrition Services Programs (NSP), which is administered by the Administration on Aging (AOA), and whether the cost varied by program characteristics. The analysis used cost data collected from a sample of 103 local service providers (LSPs) that included a mix of programs that (1) used various meal preparation methods; (2) were from across the country; and (3) provided meals in rural, suburban, and urban areas. The sample also included large and small programs.
