Geography and the Economy
1964
AbstractA Soviet planning official discusses in plenary session the contributions geographers can make to economic development. He stresses the need for investigation of the geographic environment from the point of view of resource development and the need of regional studies for planning purposes. Geographers are urged to devise a set of technical-economic indices for comparative evaluation of resource-development costs in various parts of the country. Studies of great inter-regional problems and of economic regionalization are also advocated.
