Particle or Wave? Both. Essay

This essay considers the place of Anti-Matter (Non Type) a contemporary CNC cut Letterpress Wood Type designed by Austrian born typographer Stefan Ellmer. The design draws on the long arc of type history, highlighting the experiments and trials of an era-defining genre of type design whose impact and parallels with the present day’s rapid evolution of digital type design remain frequently overlooked. The publication was produced as an output of Across the Wires/Anti Type, a project produced by Maziar Raein, Ane Thon Knutsen and Stefan Ellmer of KHiO National Academy of Art and Design, Oslo.
