3D Printing in Radiology Education

Abstract Sustaining an effective three-dimensional (3D) printing program requires technical expertise, understanding of the billing, regulatory and patient safety environment, and leadership skills. Physicians-in-training, particularly radiologists, need to gain hands-on experience and formal training in each step of the medical 3D printing process in order to develop practical expertise, avoid pitfalls, and position themselves as clinical leaders in the field. We describe the use and advantages of 3D printing in the realm of medical education and outline a program of study for future physician leaders in the field.
