These teenagers who astound us: How to welcome their speech?

2021
This article is the result of a discussion between three researchers on their psycho-analytic research on adolescence in working-class suburbs in northern Paris. By highlighting the social, generational, and symbolic places of the authors, it proposes a reflection on the listening and the reception of adolescent speech, as part of the transferential relationship with an adult-researcher. It looks at the specificity of the devices that can welcome the adolescent subject and its singular speech, at the places occupied by adolescents in these devices, and at the intersubjective encounter that produces a figurability that stands out from alarmist social discourses.
