A method for aligning the printing of dots generated by at least one set of printing elements of a printing apparatus ink jet comprising the following steps: - printing on a printing medium (3) a standard calibration test (80); - explore the calibration standard (80) test; - determining at least one calibration value based on the scan pattern (80) test, and; - adjusting the alignment of at least one set of printing elements (52) based on at least one calibration value; wherein the step of adjusting the alignment of at least one set of printing elements (52) further comprises positioning a tool alignment adjustment (61) relative to at least one set of printing elements (52) and adjust automatic alignment of at least one set of printing elements (52).
