Depressive Disorders and Bipolar and Related Disorders

In this chapter, we review important aspects of diagnosing late-life depressive and bipolar disorders with a focus on understanding the key differences in how these disorders present in the elderly when compared to younger adults. We also review the risk factors and etiologies of depressive and bipolar disorders in the older adult population.
