Structure and electronic properties of iodine complexes with some phenothiazine derivatives

1994
Abstract The crystal structures of N-methylbenzo[ c ]phenothiazine(MB[ c ]PT)-I 3.75 (I), dibenzo[ a,j ]phenothiazine(DB[ a,j ]PT)-I 3 (II), and (DB[ a,j PT) 2-I 3 (III) were determined. Triiodide ion and iodine form infinite chain and MB[ c ]PT ± molecules stack along c axis in I. Iodine exists as separate triiodide ion in crystals II and III. DB[ a,j ]PT molecules form dimer in II and column in III. The resistivity (ω cm) and E a (eV) along growing c axis of three crystals of I, II, and III are 10 −1 (0.02), 10 6 (0.5), and 10 6 (0.4), respectively.
