HBV genotype in 25 cases of patients with the hepatitis B virus.

2009
Twenty-five HBV-DNA positive samples were randomly selected and used in hepatitis B virus(HBV) genotyping, and then the relationship between HBV serum biomarkers and ALT was studied. The results indicated that five samples were genotype B(20.00%),sixteen were genotype C(64.00%),and four samples were neither genotype B nor C(16.00%).With genotype B,HBeAg was positive in 40.00% of samples, and with genotype C HBeAg was positive in 93.75% of samples. With genotypes B and C,ALT was positive in 20.00% and 37.50% of cases, respectively. These results indicated that patients infected with HBV were mainly genotype C(93.75%),and more individuals infected with genotype C were positive for HBeAg than those infected with genotype B.HBV genotype C may be associated with HBV replication.
