A model for interstitial solid solution strengthening of body centered cubic metals
2020
Abstract A model for interstitial solid solution strengthening of body centered cubic metals is proposed and used to analyze strengthening behavior of interstitial solid solutions of body centered cubic metals for which experimental data at near-room temperature are available in the open literature. The proposed model takes into account interstitial solute-dislocation interactions and cross-kink interactions at the core of a/2 [111] screw dislocations. Good agreement between the calculated and experimental yield stress values is found.
