Influence of hot deformation parameters on texture and earing behaviour of AA5005

2000
A novel technique, hot plane-strain compression tests in combination with laboratory cold rolling, was successfully applied to simulate the industrial practice for producing AA5005 sheets. Three stand tandem-rolling was simulated by performing the hot plane-strain compression tests using a Thermal-Mechanical Treatment Simulator (TMTS). The hot deformed material was subsequently cold rolled on a laboratory mill. The influence of hot deformation parameters such as entry temperature, strain rate, and total strain on the texture in the hot deformed condition, and on the texture and earing behaviour of cold rolled material in the final annealed condition, has been investigated. An excellent agreement in the earing values between the PSC-material and the material produced in the production plant has been found.
