Practical low voltage 2*2 polarisation independent LiNbO/sub 3/ digital optical switch

An X-cut LiNbO3 2×2 polarisation independent digital optical switch operating at 1.3 μm is reported. Polarisation independent switching is demonstrated with a switching voltage of ±30 V, crosstalk < −17 dB and insertion loss < 5.7 dB.
