Computational methods in tribocorrosion

Abstract This chapter presents the state-of-the-art understanding of the computational methods in tribocorrosion systems. We start with introducing mechanistic models of tribocorrosion in both sliding and fretting contacts. We also introduce the concept of synergistic effects and their mechanistic models. We present models of current transient in tribocorrosion systems and move to lubrication models of tribocorrosion. We then present some recent deterministic models of tribocorrosion where mechanical degradation and corrosion are calculated with consideration of real surface topographies and contact mechanics simulations. At the end, we discuss the future trends and possibilities for modeling tribocorrosion.
