This study analyzed the causes of enhancement for U.S-Japan alliance and considered implications upon Korea`s security. Recendy Abe`s administration admitted the right of collective self-defense, tried to amend U.S.-Japan guideline and SDF laws. This causes complex situation in East Asian Security with U.S.-China competition. So, this study analyzed the causes of enhancement for U.S-Japan alliance by using Walt`s alliance theory(Hegemonic Leadership, Preserving Credibility, Domestic Politics and Elite Manipulation, Impact of institutionalization, Ideological solidarity, Shared Identities and Security Communities). The implications upon Korea`s security is as follows. First: strengthening the ROK-U.S. alliance, second:setting up a multilateral security regime for Northeast Asia, Third:Taking a long-term view in history issues.
