Migrações interestaduais e intersetoriais dos trabalhadores formais da Região Sul do Brasil

2013
This paper evaluates the process of interstate and intersectorial migration of workers in Brazil’s South Region through data from the RAISMIGRA between 2000 and 2008. Therefore, the probabilities of transitions were calculated using the Markov Chain method. Diferencies in these were found accordingly to the variable of control. The interstate migration is relatively low and occurs mostly between the states of Santa Catarina and Parana. It is evident also that the younger the worker, the greater the likelihood that such migration occurs. The intersectorial migration proved to be even more clear, but is lower among more experienced workers. Beyond that, sectors that have bigger probabilities of reabsorbing are the industries, the services and agriculture. Key-words: Markov Chain; migration; labor market. Classificacao JEL : J60; C20.
