Embedding remote monitoring into practice: A review of the evidence and service recommendations

2021
Remote patient monitoring (RPM) is a subset of telehealth and includes the collection, transmission, evaluation, and communication of relevant patient data using electronic devices. RPM of patients offers significant opportunities to improve healthcare access, enhance health outcomes, and reduce hospitalisations and associated healthcare costs. Queensland Health commissioned The University of Queensland’s Centre for Online Health to provide a formal summary of the published evidence on RPM, explore experiences of RPM in selected Australian settings and provide recommendations to support the integration of RPM into routine care.
