Stem morphological structure and physicochemical property of rice recombinant with brittle stem.

2010
The stem morphological structure, fiber and soluble sugar content of the rice recombinant with a brittle stem(734) and rice variety with a common stem(733) were observed and determined by a scanning electron microscope and chemical analysis to compare their difference in stem structure and physicochemical property. The results showed that the number of small bundles of the recombinant(734) was higher than CK(733),the sink between small bundles of the recombinant(734) was deeper than CK(733) and the cortex fibrous cell layers was less than CK(733).The size and arrangement of stem basic tissue cells of the recombinant(734) were bigger and looser than CK(733).The number and arrangement of vascular phloem and xylem cells of the recombinant(734) were less and looser than CK(733).The cell number per unit area of the recombinant(734) and CK(733) was similar, but the cell wall and lumen of the recombinant(734) were thinner and bigger than CK(733).The relative water and crude fiber content of the recombinant(734) were 4.5 % higher and 2.8 % lower than CK(733) respectively.
