The invention relates to a steel truss installation method. A pier-side bracket and a pier-top internode steel beam are installed on the two sides of a main tower pier through a floating crane. A beam erection crane walkway is laid on the pier-top internode steel beam, and a beam erection crane is installed. After the crane lifts a novel box truss combined segment to be assembled, alignment and splicing are carried out on the crane and the pier-top internode steel beam, and a novel box truss combined segment unit is assembled, wherein the novel box truss combined segment is conveyed to a bridge site. The crane walkway is used on the assembled novel box truss combined segment in an inverted mode, the crane moves forwards, the novel box truss combined segment to be assembled is conveyed to the bridge site and lifted, alignment and splicing are carried out on the novel box truss combined segment to be assembled and the assembled novel box truss combined segment, and so on; the crane walkway is used in the inverted mode, the crane moves forwards, the novel box truss combined segments to be assembled are lifted, and all the box truss combined segments are assembled. According to the steel truss installation method, a land factory replaces overwater field operation, the amount of the construction field operation is small, the overhead working risk is reduced, the assembly project time of the steel truss is short, the construction speed is high, and the assembly quality is high; the Shanghai Nantong railway across the Yangtze River Bridge is constructed through the steel truss installation method, and the erection time of a main beam is only 220 days.
