Actividad de infusiones de plantas comerciales de uso medicinal sobre el sistema de complemento de conejo

2015
Castro, Juan F.; Nora B. Muruaga. 2015. “Activity of the medicinal commercial herb infusions on the rabbit complement system”. Lilloa 52 (2). Complement is a component of the immunity of many organisms and with different activation pathways. The aim of this paper was to test the effect of medicinal herbs on in vitro activity of complement system of rabbit serum immunized with erythrocytes from other mammalian species. Of 26 herbs analyzed, 13 showed a inhibitory effect, 2 showed no difference with control, and 11 showed an amplifying effect of hemolytic activity of complement system. Immune rabbit serum heating was inhibitor of complement activity but was not able to affect the binding of red blood cells even at dilution of 1/64, indicating the presence of antibodies anti- human red blood cells
