Orientation Control in Thin Film Growth of YBa2Cu3Ox

YBCO thin films were fabricated on MgO by IBS and mechanism of orientation controls was investigated. Orientation enhancement of a-YBCO with increasing oxygen pressure and supply of oxygen plasma can be interpreted by the increased ordering of Y and Ba atoms and the reduction of surface energy due to excitation energy of oxygen.
