Embedded effect of ZrB2-Si3N4 on tribological behaviour of Al 8011 metal matrix composite

Abstract The research aims to study the effect of Tribological characteristics over the strength of hybrid AMMCs. The candidate material for this study is ZrB2-Si3N4 as the embedded material with Al 8011 as the matrix material. The reinforcement is added from 0 wt% to 18 wt%, at an interval of 6 wt% to the matrix material. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the tribology behaviour of Aluminium Metal matrix composites in room temperature environment at different loads range from 20 and 40 N. The results are compared between the various volume fractions, and the effects are discussed. It is observed that the better wear rate of composites Al 8011 / ZrB2-Si3N4 can be obtained compare with the existing composites and alloys.
