Laser Assisted Noninvasive Blood Pressure Determination

1990
Because of the need for automatic, easily repeated physiological measurements in animal models of chronic cardiac disease states, we have developed a rapid and accurate, optically assisted method for determining blood pressure in New Zealand White rabbits. The method relies on the change in the attenuation of laser light through a peripheral ear artery as a function of an externally applied pressure ramp.
