Fluid Regulation and Time Course of Erythropoietin during Multifactorial Strain of Austrian Special Forces Survival Training

2001
Abstract : The aim of this study was to provide data on fluid-regulating mechanisms with special regard to the role of plasma proteins in the control of plasma volume (PV), and to investigate erythropoietin production and release during a period of prolonged multifactorial strain. 29 male subjects, with a mean age of 22.2+2.8 years, were studied during a 5 day lasting survival training including restricted water (1 / H2 0 day-1) and food intake (628 kJ day%1) additionally to physical exercise and sleep deprivation (20 h within 5 days).
