Remote sensors for monitoring generation and use of renewable energy

2020
Solar energy systems, both thermal and photovoltaic, and wind turbines are ideal solutions for providing energy from non-polluting sources. These equipments are installed in a fixed way, with the aim of analyzing the state of the same ones. Therefore, it is necessary to disconnect and to transfer them to a laboratory where tests can be carried out, with the consequent costs and losses of usage hours. Consequently, the development of electronic devices for remote monitoring, within the framework of remote laboratories for experimentation, makes it possible to evaluate the characteristics of the energy resource, certain operating conditions and usage habits to ensure the efficient use of these technologies. This paper presents advances from three different studies developed by the authors themselves within the field of remote laboratories for monitoring and experimentation. It is an example of electronic developments for academic purposes with the aim of showing how to develop these technologies in order to evaluate aspects of the production and use of equipment for obtaining energy from renewable sources: solar thermal, solar photovoltaic and wind.
