Thiometalate complexes containing arene, thiophene, and cyclobutadiene coligands. Are thiometalate clusters good models for desulfurization catalysts ?

Reaction of [(p-cymene)RuCl 2 ] 2 and (PPh 4 ) 2 WS 4 gives [(p-cymene)RuCl] 2 WS 4 ; the corresponding (C 6 Me 6 )Ru and (p-cymene)Os derivatives were also prepared. 1 H NMR and IR data suggest that these compounds comprise pairs of pseudooctahedral metal centers bridged by the tetrahedral WS 4 . Related syntheses gave RuRe and Ru 2 PtW 2 compounds from ReS 4 − and Pt(WS 4 ) 2 −2 , respectively. The reaction of (p-cymene)RuCl 2 (PPh 3 ) and (PPh 4 )WS 4 gave (p-cymene)RuWS 4 (PPh 3 ), whose structure was verified by X-ray crystallography
