Parasocial Interaction and Narrative Involvement as Predictors of Attitude Change
2018
Parasocial interaction and the concept of entertainment education create a framework to explore how people react to persuasive messages from political commentators. The role parasocial interaction and narrative involvement play in attitude change are assessed in this essay. After considering the impact of parasocial interactions, assessments are made concerning viewers’ likelihood of elaboration, attitude change, and likelihood of behavior change. Findings suggest higher PSI generates stronger support for the advocated position, and increased likelihood for attitude and likelihood of behavior change.
