Determination of basic adhesive additives and cationic emulsifiers used in road building

The method described permits the qualitative and quantitative determination of basic adhesive additives and cationic emulsifiers used in road building. Primary and secondary amino groups and hydroxyl groups (from ethoxylated compounds) react with phenylisocyanate to yield urea derivates or urethanes which are easily separated on a reversed phase HPLC system and detected by an UV-detector.
