Designable, temperature-dependent thermal emission using vanadium-dioxide microstructures

We propose gold - vanadium dioxide microstructured emitters to achieve structurally tunable difference in thermal radiated power between low and high temperature states. We use our emitters to design metasurfaces for which the spatial emission pattern can be inverted by changing the temperature.
