Myelomeningocele; an analysis of deaths following early closure of the back lesion.

: In three separate series of patients with open myelomeningocele treated in the neonatal period, meningoventriculitits was found to be the commonest cause of post-operative death. Improved neonatal surgical centres and less pressure on the nursing staff have reduced the incidence of this complication.
