Objectives: The objectives are to evaluate the ini- tial diagnostic step having pushed with the operational act among these patients, to describe the clinical features of breast cancers diagnosed post-surgery, and to determine issues influencing the treatment and the prognosis of these breast cancers. Materials and method: It was a prospective and descriptive study extending from 17 September 2006 to 31 January 2009 that was conducted on 19 patients who had had a breast node or mass and had undergone an excision without a preliminary diagnosis, but had been diagnosed with breast cancer based on the excision. Results: The mean age was 46. A family history of breast cancer was found in two cases. The lack of initial breast imaging and of preliminary cytopunction/biopsy were proofs of the insufficiency of in the initial diagnostic pattern. The initial incision was radiate in 42.1% and atypical in 52.7%. The excision was borderline justifying the disease progression in almost all the cases. On admission, we noted a locoregional progression in 47.6% of the cases and a metastatic progression in 36%. Fourteen cases (73.6%) were treated. The mean time of treatment was 13.8 months vs. 2.3 months for the controls (P <10 -3 ). The methods of
