The graduate program Stricto Sensu in Brazil, brings new perspectives in the educational, social and scientific context, contributing to the training of masters and doctors. The objective of this research was to verify the evaluation of postgraduate programs is performed, seeking to understand the emergence, development and current assessment of such aspects, emphasizing the graduate programs of health. Methodology was used was a literature review in indexed databases of literature, during from October to December 2013. It was found that the requirement to graduate, with frequent, due to the specificities of the areas of professional, is being evaluated satisfactorily by agencies such as the Ministry of Education (MEC) and the Coordination of Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (Capes), having satisfactory quality. We can also conclude that although increased investment and research in health, there is still little growth at the expense of multidisciplinary and exact areas.
