A method for a hair color consultation, in which by means of a video camera, a computer and a screen (monitor) a selection and presentation of a desired hair color of a hairdresser customer is displayed on the screen, characterized in that current individual images (21) of the customer (11) by means of the continuously recorded video camera (12) and in a continuous image sequence into the computer (13) are transmitted in real time, for each frame (21) by means of a device (31) an automatic image editing and image processing is performed and the natural hair of the customer is changed colors, wherein the computer (13) has a hair region (32) of the customer (11) identified, the hair color (33) (32) changes this hair region according to predetermined specifications, and the altered individual images (21) again in real time on one or more screens (14 , 15) represents.
