Online Measurement of Optical Power and Its Applications

Fiber protection equipment must usually measure the optical transmitted power and received power,check the attenuation and judge whether the received power is in normal condition,which asks for considerable workload and often results in man-made errors.In order to overcome these shortcomings,this paper presents an online measuring method of optical power.With the fiber protection equipment,the received power can be measured without disconnecting the fiber,more quickly and with less harm done to the fiber channel.
