Acid volcanic glass and pumice in lower Miocene sediments of the Northern Pacific SSE of Hawaii

Abstract Acid volcanic glass shards and pumice with SiO 2 contents of about 72 ± 2% were found in early Miocene pure radiolarian ooze at Site VA 13 1 SSE of Hawaii between Clarion and Clipperton fracture zone. An origin from northern Central America is suggested.
