Leach Resistance of Nitrogen-Containing Na2O-CaO-SiO2 Glasses
1985
The resistance of an Na2O-CaO-SiO2 glass containing 1.1 wt% nitrogen to attack by water at 60°C for up to 49 h was compared to that of a nitrogen-free glass. The attack was followed by weight-change measurements and solution analysis. The leach resistance of the nitrogen-containing glass is considerably improved. The leach mechanism is discussed in terms of ion-exchange and network-dissolution processes.
