Nerve-Sparing in Gynecological Surgery: A Perspective.

Abstract Objective to provide a perspective on nerve-sparing surgery in Gynecology Data Sources Literature review, English language Methods of Study Selection systematic review and meta-analysis studies were selected for review for oncology; comparative studies were selected for endometriosis, and one comparative and one prospective study were chosen for sacrocolpopexy. Tabulation Two tables summarize the results of systematic review and meta-analysis in Oncology. Integration oncology, endometriosis, and urogynecology sections. Results primary benefit is decreased bladder dysfunction, and to a lesser degree vaginal and rectal dysfunction with the nerve-sparing technique. Conclusion Nerve-sparing is preferable to conventional surgery for benign and malignant conditions to reduce postoperative bladder, rectal, and vaginal dysfunction.
