2007
The Brucella ovis is involved in male and female reproductive disturbs in almost all countries of the world where sheep in extensive diet are created. In males they cause epididymits, orquits and infertility, and in females they cause abortion and perinatal mortality. The objective of this research was to identify the occurrence of sheep reagent to the immunodiffusion in agar gel to Brucella ovis in properties around the north of Parana. The blood serum of 213 sheep was examined, between males and females in reproductive age from 10 flocks located in six cities: Arapongas, Assai, Astorga, Londrina, Maua da Serra e Santa Fe in the north of Parana State. Only three animals (1,40%) of two properties, reacted in a positive way. The conclusion is that the occurrence of Brucella ovis in the north of Parana is low, however, the sickness does exist in the studied places.
