High metal tolerance matrix for FCC catalyst

1996
Metals Contained in heavy FCC feedstock lead to the deactivation of the catalyst by the destructive attack on the zeolite crystallite and lead to the increase of coke formation. The study on the passivation of nickel and vanadium by modified alumina and CBO3, a complex oxide, shows that the matrix of FCC catalyst containing modified alumina and CBO3 possesses high metal tolerance. After being polluted by 3000 ppm nickel and 5000 ppm vanadium, the activity of the FCC catalyst made by using the matrix containing modified alumina and CBO3 can be increased by 10-26% and the coke formation selectivity of it can be reduced by 13-24% than the catalyst without being modified by alumina and CBO3. The mechanism of the effect of vanadium on zeolite is also discussed.
