Collective energy dissipated in nucleus–nucleus collisions

2004
Abstract The collective energy of the system formed by two heavy ions before the central collision is examined. Various mechanisms of energy dissipation are analyzed. Important role of the energy associated with the distribution of nucleus in the momentum space is shown. Estimations of energy losses in the collision are given for the system 40 Ar+ 208 Pb.
