The “ten-day rule”

1981
The “ten-day rule” is a rule of practice intended to reduce the likelihood of irradiation of a pregnancy and is one of the recommendations included in the “Code of Practice for the Protection of Persons against Ionizing Radiations arising from Medical and Dental Use” (1972). The Code recommends that examinations of the lower abdomen should, if practicable, be carried out within ten days following the first day of the menstrual period.
