Variation of magnetic ordering of UN by neutron irradiation

1980
Abstract Neutron irradiated UN was studied at low temperature by measuring the electrical resistivity. The Neel temperature shifted to lower temperatures with increasing fission doses up to 1.8 × 10 18 fission/cm 3 , then increased with further irradiations. On the other hand, the lattice expansion and the increases of the resistivity, measured at room temperature, were observed below 2 × 10 17 fission/cm 3 , but both were reduced by further fission doses. The magnetic ordering varied with changes of the above physical properties. The effects of fission damage on the magnetic ordering are discussed.
