Implementation Of A Microstrip Antenna And Study The Effect Of The Type Of Dielectric Material On The Bandwidth

2021
In this paper, a model was designed for a rectangular microstrip patch antenna suitable for WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) applications. The overall size of the microstrip patch antenna is (25.5 x 23.5 x1.6) mm3. The antenna was  fed using  microstrip line technology at 5.2GHz (5.15 – 5.35GHz) and improve the radiative properties of the epoxy insulating material and then obtain a frequency beam width using a group of different insulating materials. The insulating materials used are (Epoxy with an insulation constant of 4.3, Roger 3206 with insulation constant of 6.6, and Polycarbonate with isolation constant of 2.9) and the best value of the frequency bandwidth was obtained at the insulating material and Polycarbonate and its value was equal to 3.6916GHz and return loss was equal to -24.369dB at the frequency of 5.3314GHz , And that the bandwidth of the FR-4 (Epoxy) insulation is equal to 3.3437GHz, with a return loss of –40.191dB at 5.17GHz, and the bandwidth of Roger 3206 insulation is equal to 2.9663GHz, and the return loss is equal to -25.046dB at 5.15GHz, The antenna was fabricated and the return loss value measured using a Vector Network Analyzer (VNA) device and there was acceptable compatibility with the simulated return loss value using CST (Computer Simulation Tool) 2019 software.
