Influence of turbulence outer scale on atmospheric transverse coherence length and isoplanatic angle

Based on the measured height distributional data of the turbulent structure constant (C n 2 ), this article analyses the effect of turbulent outer scale (L o ) on atmospheric transverse coherence length r o and isoplanatic angle ((theta) o ). The calculation result shows that r o and (theta) o will obviously increase when limited L o is considered. The r o and (theta) o are much large for telescope at 2.2 micrometers . The limit of (theta) o is likely to be several arcminutes and may possibly be even larger.
