Study on hydraulic characteristics of vertical vortices of a bottom- stepped energy dissipater with abrupt wall expansion

This paper experimentally studies the hydraulic characteristics of the vertical vortices in an energy dissipater with a bottom step and abrupt lateral wall expansion,and presents a detailed analysis on the form of these vortices and the time variation of their poison,with discussions on the behaviors of velocity and pressure at the bottom corners of the channel.
